The Tanakh is very specific on every detail of the Messiah, yet does not mention that he would ascend to heaven and then return 2000 plus years later. It seems that the messiah and all of his functions on earth are supposed to be pretty immediate, so what, based on the Tanakh, is the reason for the belief in the second coming after an interminable wait?

Thank you for your reply Tamla. I was hoping that someone might have some information that I was missing. I too left christianity a long time ago and it has been satisfying. Liberating is probably a better word. I seem to keep running into a wall when I ask this question. What troubles me is that the majority of people I know that are supposedly well educated in the bible have never thought to look this up. I'm told I'm supposed to "have faith". To which I reply that I do, just not in the same thing you do. Anyway, Thank You again for responding.
Permalink Reply by mrgeo on January 13, 2012 at 11:31am The truth can be found in Isaiah 28, specifically the second appearance showing in 28:19. The USA is the Babylon mentioned in Rev 18, also it is represented by the tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph, with all the tribes present here, Ephraim being Great Britain, the UK also has a remanent of all the tribes. This is the dwelling place of "The House of Israel" in these last times. (Gen 48:13-22 gives reference to this, verse 22 being the reason we live the life style we do, with a double portion, one for each son by inheritance, and speak the same basic language). Isaiah 47:3 makes no false implications about it, He will not come back as a man! The problem is accepting the truth. A further study into the physical nature of the Creator is a necessity. This kind of study might surpass the limitations of this site. First thing to consider is the vastness of the creation itself, let alone the complete layout of it in an orderly manner. Daniel 12:1-9 speaks of a book sealed until the end time, the book of life (12:1), this book is the complete Tanakh in the original Hebrew language, context, and order. Names and deeds of all ever born are registered in it's pages, it has been opened By God's grace, it is found using the term "Bible Codes" in any search engine, having been involved in a study of it I know it to be as it should be.
To say that God can only be Human, or cannot be as He wishes to be, would be putting limitations on an unlimited God.
This page will give some insight as to the vastness and nature of the Creator. (If one will accept it as such)
