I have been doing a little digging. I am not finding hardly anything on Zippor, now Sheshach, I am finding quite a bit on. There are a couple of things in Revelation 2, that are standing out right now. The name Zippor means "sparrow", which is strange to me because then you have his son Balak means "destroyer". Do you know if Zippor was a previous King of Moab? I would be curious to see what you have found in regards to him. Sheshach is reminding me of the whore of Babylon mentioned in Revelations.
According to"Jones dictionary of old testament Names" the word Sheshach means Babel or confusion. The ancient Babylon, capital of Babylonia. It is located in Iraq, south of Baghdad. Where Nimrod was building tower of Babel.
That is where the Jews were held captive. Saddam Hussein was starting to build there when we invaded during the gulf war. He was putting His name on the bricks, just like Nebuchadnezzar. Our military is there now and I have read that the military has destroyed a lot of ancient artifacts.
According to the Stone edition of the Tanach, the reverse alphabet known as at-bash, Sheshach is the coded form of Babylonia. It is hard for me to understand how in Jer. 51:41 the word would be coded once and written out uncoded once. How has Sheshach been captured and the glory of the whole world been seized? How has Babylonia become a desolation among the nations?

The following verses from the Tanakh speak of Zippor:
And the children of Israel journeyed, and pitched in the plains of Moab beyond the Jordan at Jericho. And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many; and Moab was overcome with dread because of the children of Israel. And Moab said unto the elders of Midian: 'Now will this multitude lick up all that is round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field.' - And Balak the son of Zippor was king of Moab at that time. - And he sent messengers unto Balaam the son of Beor, to Pethor, which is by the River, to the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying: 'Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt; behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me. Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me; peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land; for I know that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.' And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spoke unto him the words of Balak. And he said unto them: 'Lodge here this night, and I will bring you back word, as YeHoWaH may speak unto me'; and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam. And God came unto Balaam, and said: 'What men are these with thee?' And Balaam said unto God: 'Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, hath sent unto me saying: Behold the people that is come out of Egypt, it covereth the face of the earth; now, come curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to fight against them, and shall drive them out.' And God said unto Balaam: 'Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people; for they are blessed.' And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak: 'Get you into your land; for YeHoWaH refuseth to give me leave to go with you.' And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said: 'Balaam refuseth to come with us.' And Balak sent yet again princes, more, and more honourable than they. And they came to Balaam, and said to him: 'Thus saith Balak the son of Zippor: Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee from coming unto me; for I will promote thee unto very great honour, and whatsoever thou sayest unto me I will do; come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.' And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak: 'If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of YeHoWaH my God, to do any thing, small or great. (Numbers 22:1-18)
These verses tell us that Balak was the son of Zippor. Balak, son of Zippor was king of Moab at the time when the children of Israel journeyed, and pitched in the plains of Moab beyond the Jordan at Jericho. This was after the children of Israel had left Egypt and before they inherited the land of Israel.
And I brought your fathers out of Egypt; and ye came unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and with horsemen unto the Red Sea. And when they cried out unto the LORD, He put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes saw what I did in Egypt; and ye dwelt in the wilderness many days. And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, that dwelt beyond the Jordan; and they fought with you; and I gave them into your hand, and ye possessed their land; and I destroyed them from before you. Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and fought against Israel; and he sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you. But I would not hearken unto Balaam; therefore he even blessed you; so I delivered you out of his hand. (Joshua 24:6-10)
And Jephthah sent messengers again unto the king of the children of Ammon; and he said unto him: 'Thus saith Jephthah: Israel took not away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon. But when they came up from Egypt, and Israel walked through the wilderness unto the Red Sea, and came to Kadesh; then Israel sent messengers unto the king of Edom, saying: Let me, I pray thee, pass through thy land; but the king of Edom hearkened not. And in like manner he sent unto the king of Moab; but he would not; and Israel abode in Kadesh. Then he walked through the wilderness, and compassed the land of Edom, and the land of Moab, and came by the east side of the land of Moab, and they pitched on the other side of the Arnon; but they came not within the border of Moab, for the Arnon was the border of Moab. And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said unto him: Let us pass, we pray thee, through thy land unto my place. But Sihon trusted not Israel to pass through his border; but Sihon gathered all his people together, and pitched in Jahaz, and fought against Israel. And YeHoWaH, the God of Israel, delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they smote them; so Israel possessed all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that country. And they possessed all the border of the Amorites, from the Arnon even unto the Jabbok, and from the wilderness even unto the Jordan. So now YeHoWaH, the God of Israel, hath dispossessed the Amorites from before His people Israel, and shouldest thou possess them? Wilt not thou possess that which Chemosh thy god giveth thee to possess? So whomsoever YeHoWaH our God hath dispossessed from before us, them will we possess. And now art thou any thing better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab? did he ever strive against Israel, or did he ever fight against them? While Israel dwelt in Heshbon and its towns, and in Aroer and its towns, and in all the cities that are along by the side of the Arnon, three hundred years; wherefore did ye not recover them within that time? I therefore have not sinned against thee, but thou doest me wrong to war against me; YeHoWaH, the Judge, be judge this day between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon.' Howbeit the king of the children of Ammon hearkened not unto the words of Jephthah which he sent him. (Judges 11:14-28)
The following prophecies mention the king of Sheshack. Sheshack was a place that existed in the time of Nebuchadrezzar King of Babylon. It does nor exist today.
The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, that was the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; which Jeremiah the prophet spoke unto all the people of Judah, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying: From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even unto this day, these three and twenty years, the word of YeHoWaH hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, speaking betimes and often; but ye have not hearkened. And YeHoWaH hath sent unto you all His servants the prophets, sending them betimes and often - but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear - saying: 'Return ye now every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that YeHoWaH hath given unto you and to your fathers, for ever and ever; and go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke Me not with the work of your hands, and I will do you no hurt.' Yet ye have not hearkened unto Me, saith YeHoWaH; that ye might provoke Me with the work of your hands to your own hurt. Therefore thus saith YeHoWaH of hosts: Because ye have not heard My words, behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith YeHoWaH, and I will send unto Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, My servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about; and I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations. Moreover I will cause to cease from among them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the lamp. And this whole land shall be a desolation, and a waste; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years. And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith YeHoWaH, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans; and I will make it perpetual desolations. And I will bring upon that land all My words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah hath prophesied against all the nations. For many nations and great kings shall make bondmen of them also; and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the work of their own hands. For thus saith YeHoWaH, the God of Israel, unto me: Take this cup of the wine of fury at My hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it. And they shall drink, and reel to and fro, and be like madmen, because of the sword that I will send among them. - Then took I the cup of YeHoWaH's hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom YeHoWaH had sent me: Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them an appalment, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse; as it is this day; Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people; and all the mingled people; and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Gaza, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod; Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon; and all the kings of Tyre, and all the kings of Zidon, and the kings of the isle which is beyond the sea; Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that have the corners of their hair polled; and all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mingled people that dwell in the wilderness; and all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes; and all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the world, which are upon the face of the earth. - And the king of Sheshach shall drink after them. And thou shalt say unto them: Thus saith YeHoWaH of hosts, the God of Israel: Drink ye, and be drunken, and spew, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you. And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at thy hand to drink, then shalt thou say unto them: Thus saith YeHoWaH of hosts: Ye shall surely drink. For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city whereupon My name is called, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished; for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith YeHoWaH of hosts. Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them: YeHoWaH doth roar from on high, and utter His voice from His holy habitation; He doth mightily roar because of His fold; He giveth a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth. A noise is come even to the end of the earth; for YeHoWaH hath a controversy with the nations, He doth plead with all flesh; as for the wicked, He hath given them to the sword, saith YeHoWaH. Thus saith YeHoWaH of hosts: Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great storm shall be raised up from the uttermost parts of the earth. And the slain of YeHoWaH shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the face of the ground. Wail, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the dust, ye leaders of the flock; for the days of your slaughter are fully come, and I will break you in pieces, and ye shall fall like a precious vessel. And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the leaders of the flock to escape. Hark! the cry of the shepherds, and the wailing of the leaders of the flock! For YeHoWaH despoileth their pasture. And the peaceable folds are brought to silence because of the fierce anger of YeHoWaH. He hath forsaken His covert, as the lion; for their land is become a waste because of the fierceness of the oppressing sword, and because of His fierce anger. (Jeremiah 25:1-38)

Sheshach - (Jer. 25:26), supposed to be equivalent to Babel (Babylon), according to a secret mode of writing among the Jews of unknown antiquity, which consisted in substituting the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet for the first, the last but one for the second, and so on. Thus the letters sh, sh, ch become b, b, l, i.e., Babel (see: Atbash cipher). This code is called the Atbash Cipher and was used to decrypt. The city does not appear on any map nor in any other documents, save the book of Jeremiah. The Atbash Cipher was applied and out of Sheshach came the word Babel. This is supposed to be confirmed by a reference to Jer. 51:41, where Sheshach and Babylon are in parallel clauses. There seems to be no reason to doubt that Babylon is here intended by this name.
For thus saith YeHoWaH of hosts, the God of Israel: The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing-floor at the time when it is trodden; yet a little while, and the time of harvest shall come for her. Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath set me down as an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his maw with my delicacies; he hath washed me clean. 'The violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon', shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and: 'My blood be upon the inhabitants of Chaldea', shall Jerusalem say. Therefore thus saith YeHoWaH: Behold, I will plead thy cause, and take vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her fountain dry. And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwelling-place for jackals, an astonishment, and a hissing, without inhabitant. They shall roar together like young lions; they shall growl as lions' whelps. With their poison I will prepare their feast, and I will make them drunken, that they may be convulsed, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith YeHoWaH. I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with he-goats. How is Sheshach taken! and the praise of the whole earth seized! How is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations! The sea is come up upon Babylon; she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof. Her cities are become a desolation, a dry land, and a desert, a land wherein no man dwelleth, neither doth any son of man pass thereby. And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he hath swallowed up, and the nations shall not flow any more unto him; yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall. My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and save yourselves every man from the fierce anger of YeHoWaH. And let not your heart faint, neither fear ye, for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; for a rumour shall come one year, and after that in another year a rumour, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler. Therefore behold, the days come, that I will do judgment upon the graven images of Babylon, and her whole land shall be ashamed; and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her. Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for joy over Babylon; for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith YeHoWaH. As Babylon hath caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the land. Ye that have escaped the sword, go ye, stand not still; remember YeHoWaH from afar, and let Jerusalem come into your mind. 'We are ashamed, because we have heard reproach, confusion hath covered our faces; for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of YeHoWaH's house.' Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith YeHoWaH, that I will do judgment upon her graven images; and through all her land the wounded shall groan. Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from Me shall spoilers come unto her, saith YeHoWaH. Hark! a cry from Babylon, and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans! For YeHoWaH spoileth Babylon, and destroyeth out of her the great voice; and their waves roar like many waters, the noise of their voice is uttered; For the spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, their bows are shattered; for YeHoWaH is a God of recompenses, He will surely requite. And I will make drunk her princes and her wise men, her governors and her deputies, and her mighty men; and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the King, whose name is YeHoWaH of hosts. Thus saith YeHoWaH of hosts: The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly overthrown, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the peoples shall labour for vanity, and the nations for the fire; and they shall be weary. The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah to Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. Now Seraiah was quartermaster. And Jeremiah wrote in one book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, even all these words that are written concerning Babylon. And Jeremiah said to Seraiah: 'When thou comest to Babylon, then see that thou read all these words, and say: O YeHoWaH, Thou hast spoken concerning this place, to cut it off, that none shall dwell therein, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be desolate for ever. And it shall be, when thou hast made an end of reading this book, that thou shalt bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of the Euphrates; and thou shalt say: Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise again because of the evil that I will bring upon her; and they shall be weary.' Thus far are the words of Jeremiah. (Jeremiah 51:33-64)
These prophecies were fulfilled 70 years after Judah was taken captive by Babylon. It is my understanding that Babylon and Sheshach were destroyed and do not exist today.
Shalom,
Sandra.
