Shalom all,

In an effort to help bring about a greater unity in an area where we are lacking, I offer up the following article so that we hopefully lose the God & Lord titles manufactured by men - and come together and call on the Creators name (His short Name, as there are too many variations of His long Name): I believe that once we are weaned from the milk, we become responsible for the greater knowledge and understanding we have been given, and that there are expectations which come with these gifts. I believe that when we are teaching those who have no understanding of His name, It is fine to use those titles that they are familiar with until such time as they are able to learn the fullness of the matter. I invite well thought out comments and contributions. I do not desire that this post move into a discussion on the long name of the Eternal as this is not the focus of this post.

Open your scriptures to Psalm 68:4

It should read similar to this:

Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.

Here we see that the Eternal has a name and it is given to us in most of our bibles. Lets explore further.

Sing unto God, sing praises to his name:

Strongs concordance shows ‘03050’ as the name of the Eternal. This is usually the only place in most bibles that the name appears. Is it the only place where this Strongs number occurs?
When we seek this out we find that Strongs ‘03050’ occurs 49 times in the scriptures, yet it is only properly translated in most bibles one time.

There are 30 instances where the name of the Eternal is used in praise!

Praise Yah!

Hallel - U - Yah!

Is HalleluYah limited to the Hebrew Old Testament (TaNaKh)?

Turn to Revelations 19... you will see something similar to this....

Rev 19:1 And after this I heard a loud voice of a great crowd in the heaven, saying, “Halleluyah! Deliverance and esteem and respect and power to יהוה our Elohim!
Rev 19:2 “Because true and righteous are His judgments, because He has judged the great whore who corrupted the earth with her whoring. And He has avenged on her the blood of His servants shed by her.” 3 And a second time they said, “Halleluyah! And her smoke rises up forever and ever!” 4 And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshipped Elohim who sat on the throne, saying, “Amĕn! Halleluyah!” 5 And a voice came from the throne, saying, “Praise our Elohim, all you His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!” 6 And I heard as the voice of a great crowd, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunders, saying, “Halleluyah, for יהוה Ěl Shaddai reigns!

We see that HalleluYah is used there too.

Strongs gives this definition of Yah:

1) Yah (Jehovah in the shortened form)
a) the proper name of the one true God
b) used in many compounds

1) names beginning with the letters 'Je' (also 'Jo')
2) names ending with 'iah' or 'jah'

Let us now look at the biblical names that contain the Fathers Name within them:

Has the Eternals name been lost?
Don't we at the very least have the shortened version of His name, handed down in names and praise?

Is their a command against using the true name of the Eternal?
NO!!!

Is it strongly suggested that we use His name in praise?

Psalm 135:1, 3

HalleluYah! Praise the Name of YHWH; Praise, you servants of YHWH, 2Who are standing in the House of YHWH, In the courts of the House of our Elohim,

3HalleluYah, for YHWH is tov; Sing praises to His Name, for it is pleasant. 4For Yah has chosen Ya'aqob for Himself,

Let us honor our Creator by calling upon His name!

HalleluYah thine the glory HalleluYah Amen HalleluYah thine the glory revive us again I've been tring to pray for others in YHWH Name before Always used Father G_d Trying the new way didn't feel like natural kind of akward for me I've known about the throne of Yah for some time this sure opened my eyes to the names of and variations the names of people in the Torah the names of the people that show up on roots of faith Blog I have been noticeing yah as part of thier names amazing makes me wonder if thier name interpreted has a calling and gifts associated with it since he knows us from the womb and knows to whom we will be born and the son sign we are under the name of the person spoken by the parent could we call this prophesy?

David Allen I would like to have been able to visit at Sukkot this year but my wife had surgery in June and she is back into the hospital doing OK I had thought that I would build my own Sukka and spend the time praying here following the best I know to do i think I'm right in this seeking Yah Before their were kings in the land over the people all the heads of the house were responsible for their own and I Believe that I'm on a long road and half way there and have a wide wide river to cross Hope its the Jordan and not the SambYah On family's I'll quote from a Disney movie Lilo and stitch "Not one is forgotten and not one is left behind" Pray all you can as doors open For a new heart and to take upon themselves the yoke many of mine have been stiff necked and given multiple times and chances one told me Dewayne that he would be walking down the street and a preacher would stop and tell him God told me to pray for you makes you wonder?
Can I get an amen brothers and sisters????

Let us use Yah instead of Lord and Elohim instead of God...

Elohim

There are those who will not use El or any of the variations of El such as Elohim, Eloah, etc. because El is used to refer to a pagan mighty one.

This brief article asks for common sense regarding the use of El and it’s variations.

Quickly think of the names of 5 prophets in the Old Testament (TaNaKh). Were any of them the following?

Samuel – Heard of El

Ezekiel – El will strengthen

Daniel – My Judge is El

Joel – Yah is El

Strongs defines El as follows:

H410

אל
'êl

Shortened from H352; strength; as adjective mighty; especially the Almighty (but used also of any deity): - God (god), X goodly, X great, idol, might (-y one), power, strong. Compare names in “-el.”

Did the Eternal despise the use of El or any of its variations? Common sense tells us no.

Why? Because His servants names contain this title. If the Almighty took offense at His followers using this title He certainly would have prevented them from using it in their names.

Even Yah'shua used this title:

Mat 27:46 And about the ninth hour יהושע cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Ěli, Ěli, lemah sheḇaqtani?” that is, “My Ěl, My Ěl, why have You forsaken Me?”
Shalom Allen and all Chaverim, well done on your "names" article Allen. We feel it was very well written and most relevant to the community of believers. Your points are valid, and if I can add to the mix I would like to say this: the names God and Lord are nothing more than titles anyway. They are not names of the Father and never were. We are told very clearly to "USE" His name in various places in Torah.....1 Chron 16:8, Ps 80:18, Is 12:4 and many others. These titles are of pagan origin and to add further insult, they have crept into our scriptures replacing the "Name" of the creator thereby violating commandment # 3. We have decided ourselves to use "Yah" simply because no-one can prove beyond doubt how to pronounce the full name anyway. There is a myriad of arguments and explanations out there, but it all ends up in confusion.
I would not however use "Jah" as the letter "J" has at best been around for only 500 years give or take a couple. As you have clearly pointed out in your article, there are many examples where Yah's name has been incorporated into other names with the most profound being "halleluYah"! Very well done, Amein and Amein.

Shalom Alechem
Moshe and Ally

Who is YOUR Lord?......

Ava Maria, would a rose by any other name smell as sweet?

Praise be to G-d!!! 3 times, Praise be to G-d, praise be to G-d!!!

Amen, She li miah
