Shalom everybody!

The first crescent was sighted in Israel the evening of the 27th and in perfectly clear and beautiful New Mexico skies we sighted the new moon this evening thus beginning the first of the 11th biblical month.

Blessed New Moon Day!

Thanks for your faithfulness in this John!
Do you know how this fit into the observed calendar used in ancient Israel?

FYI,A unique Jewish calendar event is about to take place, which one can only experience 2 or 3 times in one's lifetime:

Birkat HaChama (the Blessing on the Sun) takes place once every 28 years. The next occurence is on 7/8 April 2009.

Find out more at: http://www.kehillaton.com/en/articles_birkat_hachama.asp&c=2

Where Kiddish Lavana (Blessing of the moon) is done once a month, this is a rare chance.
