Shalom. I have started this discussion so that folks that are coming to Sukkot in St. Francisville, or are interested in coming, can ask questions and make comments. We at Beth Lechem are all excited about being there and are hoping that others will post so that the excitement might spread.

All year my kids talk about Sukkoth and can never wait to get back! (That includes us too.) The 8 (or 10 or 12) days go by so quickly. We often try to memorialize the Sukkoth gathering by painting a mural with highlights from that year with tempera on canvas, often with scenes from Biblical Sukkoth celebrations in the Temple as well. So bring your artistic talent and ideas along too! Among other things this year, we plan to have a "class" on the geography of Eretz Israel.
I encourage everyone to go to www.rootsoffaith.org to register for Sukkot in St. Francisville. We can best prepare if we can get everyone that is coming registered now. If you know someone who is not on SWW but would like to come, please forward this info. Where we are staying is not officially a "camp ground," so there are no individual hook-ups for RVs. There are restrooms and running water.

We will have a big dining tent as well as a 600+ square foot sukkah! There is plenty of room for tents and a kosher meal plan is available. The details are posted in this discussion. We have many fun and educational classes and activities planned. There will also be a conference at Temple Sinai at the end of the week. Believe me, you don't want to miss this!
I invite anyone who has a t-shirt design that they would like considered for the Sukkot '09 t-shirt to email the design to me at webhulon@msn.com. It must be in a common format and one color unless you have the capability to separate the colors.

I'm probably just missing this, but what are all the costs involved at Sukkot? Campground? I see the meals cost. They look wonderful, but we may have to go a cheaper route. Do many families do their own meals?
I would love to be able to stay the week with our kids and learn more. And have fun - oh yeah.
Shalom Stacie,
There is no cost for camping. This is the first year with a meal program and it looks as if a lot of folks will take advantage of it but it is not mandantory. The day trip may have a fee, but we haven't nailed down where we are going yet so that is TBA. We will have lots of fun and learning for all ages. Come join us!

Hey Web.....How much research have you done concerning the day trip? What are your thoughts about this, as I may have some imput.

Hey Dave,
I have looked at the rural life museum in Baton rouge. It sounds interesting and educational, but I don't think that it would be the kind of place where we could spend a lot of time. Please do make some suggestions.

If you are coming to the SWW Sukkot in St. Francisville and are interested in having a lulav and etrog, please let me know. We order them in bulk. They are usually between $35 and $40. I won't know the exact price until my supplier works it all out, but it is very unlikely to be over $40.

The lulav and etrog are the traditional Jewish way of fulfilling this command:

Lev 23:40
40 `And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before YHWH your Elohim for seven days.
Shalom everyone,
We have just put up a new website with SWW Sukkot info. Check it out.

Only 3 days till we leave for LA!!! We here at Beth Lechem are soooo very excited! Everyone shopping and packing, you can feel the excitement in the air! We cant wait to see everyone. We pray that everyone who is traveling to Sukkot enjoy a safe trip and favorable weather.See you there!!
Yes it is in the air....as I gaze at the moon each night and watch it get bigger as the time approaches. This year it will be astronomically full on Oct 04. The temp. here is getting cooler although it did hit 90 today....with a cool front aproaching. We have had some rain as of late but the report so far looks great! We (those in the area) have a work day planned for this Wed. to do a little work at Temple Sinai, which I am looking forward to. As I understand the S.C. group is fired up and ready to travel. Lets all remember them this Thursday, may they have the wind at their backs!

We are working on a page on one of our websites that one can click on and get the video feed along with an interactive chat that will be active during this time, as we plan to get as much of the activities (and all of the scheduled presentations by our speakers) streamed live. along with any fireside talks recorded and played back the next day. As we develop this page in the next few days it will be announced.

I am so glad to hear that you guys are working on a new page and chat room. With what has happened it just seems to ruin the shabbot. I hope you are able to get it up and running. It's really a shame that some people think that kind of behavior is cute. Keep up the good work Dave!!! I hope you all have a GREAT Succoth, and I hope all who will be traveling to LA will have a safe trip. Hope you don't get rain and that the temp cooperates with you!!
