Amos 8:11 Behold days are coming, says Lord Yehovah, when I will send a famine upon the earth; it will not be a hunger for bread or a thirst for water but to hear the words of Yehovah.
Hearing the words of Yehovah......This was one of the first ear opening points (after leaving) that I observed during all the years sitting in a Sunday church. STARVING.......like a sheep eating all the grass down to the earth. I am now wondering how this applies to the masses that attend Sabbath Services in traditional Synagogues. In what way are they starving from "hearing the word"?
OK....its bad form to reply to ones discussion....(those that know me, expect it!), but that's what I am here for.
So, There is this famine of hearing the words of instruction, these instructions have been guarded and cherished down through time by those that are called Hebrew people. We that have awakened and started getting on this path along side have benefited from the faithfulness of those that 'held on' to the truth in the Hebrew bible. As I try and explain this to friends and family, most do not know about this famine in the land (earth), spoken of in Amos. I get the usual response, either sincere interest or that drifty look that says that I must of fell off the planet!
The question I have concerning those that attend a traditinal Jewish Synogugue, concerns this famine. The Protestant Charismatic groups believe that they have 'fresh words' from the Holy Spirit that can be turned on any time to get 'fed'. So to them they can't possibly see the words in Amos to be talking about them and now....But this famine is one of "hearing" the word...not a famine of Yehovah speaking but those on the earth of hearing.
