We need to look into acquiring a scroll for Temple Sinai....perhaps maybe even one that was used by the early congregants here! I read with interest of a local congregation in Baton Rouge that had a new one written because of the five that they have, being beyond restoring....of the five, three are from synagogues that are no longer active, from the Mississippi area.....hmmmm could one of those have been used here?
The new Torah is the first Torah commissioned in the congregation’s 150-year history, Weill said. One Torah originally came from Poland, another was rescued from Czechoslovakia during the Holocaust and the remaining three are believed to have come from congregations in Mississippi that are no longer in existence.
