Most people concider mushrooms to be kosher....as I do, but there are some that consider this plant to be on the "not to be eaten" list.
Hey Ally, I looked into this idea of mushrooms and other fungi as food. I looked into this idea of a "seed". Even though mushrooms and some other plants do not have what we would consider conventional seed, it does produce offspring. Spores are seeds, just very small, so until some one convinces me that the Torah says "do not eat mushrooms" I will eat them because they do have seeds although most certainly a unique one, (from most plants), but are plants and they do produce "seed" (in a biblical sense).
Also the thought occurred to me as I researched this subject so that I may be convinced. What about yeast....it is a plant....we eat it and it is a fungi.
As I see it....it is not an error, that one needs to be cautious about.
