I am currently eating about 75% raw food.  I cannot even begin to explain the difference it has made for me in the way I feel in every way physically, mentally, and spiritually.  I have copied the information below from an email that I received.  I can't just give these recipes away as I agreed not to.  I do recommend them for anyone who wants to add more fresh fruit and vegetables to your diet.  I think that what we do eat is as important as what we don't eat.  I currently eat a head of greens (like baby spinach, kale, romaine, etc.) every day and at least 15 servings of fruit and vegetables, usually quite a bit more.  The website that this brings you to was created by Roger Haske.  He believes in being 100% raw.  While we might not agree with this, we can't argue the benefits of adding more fresh fruits and vegetables to our diets.

Thank you for sharing that with us Kim. I have felt a pull towards more of a raw plant based diet. I'm going to try to eat more raw...I said try :-) I don't think, at least at this stage that I could go 100% raw.

I have been able to cut cows milk from my diet. The next to go is the butter, milk and cheese. There are some vegetarian cheeses here, that are pretty good, but I'd eventually like to go off of cheese altogether also.

I'd also love to go organic, but that's almost an impossibility for me. One step at a time, ay?

Ally,

Right, one step at a time. Going 100% Raw all at once is not a good idea. The transitions would be meat, dairy/eggs, cooked food once a day, cooked food once a week, cooked food once a month, cooked food at anytime that you feel you are detoxing too fast...with every step you will feel better.

More than 95% of what is wrong with people can be attributed to diet. Like I said it's as much about what you eat as what you don't eat. People can be on vegan diets and not be healthy. Too much fat of any kind is not healthy which is why I steer clear of the Hollywood Raw diet which includes a lot of fat and a lot of work. The recipes on the link I posted make consuming large amounts of fruits and vegetables easier.

I realize this may not be for everyone. I just know how fabulous I feel since changing my diet and I want to share with anyone who might be interested. I don't remember the last time I was sick. I used to be very moody, now I wake up happy every day. I require less sleep and have more energy that I can remember having... ever. I am blessed to be part of a raw organic food co-op. I can get fruit and veggies for the same price or less that I pay at the grocery store and they are all organic.

Love ya,
Kim
Kim,

I think you forgot to post the link ;-)

I am happy for you Kim. I would love to experience more energy and feel an improvement in the areas you mention.
I do agree with you that 95% of what is wrong with people is directly related to our diets.

Blessings,
Ally

I did not realize how much the cost of this program had gone up. I got in when it was still being developed for under $30. I have some other free raw recipes that I can post if anyone is interested. I also received a newsletter from my food co-op that has a lot of good information and recipes. The email is free to anyone without having to be part of the co-op.
The link to sign up for the newsletter is www.rawfullyorganic.com
Hi Kim,

Yeah, if you have any raw recipes, we'd love to see them. I'll check out the link...thanks for the info!

Late last year I made an effort to eat about 75% raw for health reasons. I'm not a proponent of 100% raw for my own self, but eating a high percentage of specific raw veggies and berries and fruits..and other things such as seeds and nuts...made a profound difference in my health, and my husband's. I'm just not a salad eater, and usually have some stomach distress with raw foods -- that is, until I began blending smoothies. It may sound unusual (sure did to me at first) but since I wanted to incorporate a lot of dark greens into my eating, I experimented a lot with smoothies that were Low GI but tasted good and were high in dark leafy greens. Now we have them daily. Almost all ours are in a lemon juice/water/stevia (homemade lemonade) base, adding in about 1/2 a blender full of dark greens such as spinach, and the other half in frozen blueberries. We can always add additional leftover fruit and raw veggie bits, but the spinach/blueberry and lemonade made from stevia is our base. We add in flax seed oil, chia seeds, and other things sometimes like green powders, etc, but those aren't crucial.

The effect these simple smoothies have produced for our health is remarkable.

Then we added into our eating other easy things such as raw food salsa, eaten with either dehydrated "seedy" crackers (made from pureed veggies and seeds and dehydrated) or cucumber "chips" or other crudites. Salsa can be anything mild mixed with anything savory and herbs...diced cucumbers, tomatoes, and raw jalapenos with a little garlic is yummy...but we mix it up.

Also, another standby is to dice fruit up quite small, whatever fresh fruit is in season or a favorite, and just before serving add coarsely chopped walnuts and drizzle of honey...a delicious dessert!

Instead of hot cereal, we grind almonds and whatever other nuts desired (grind them coarsely), add chia seeds either ground or not(remarkable health benefits), add a bit of hot water and stir and let them absorb the water (it expands). Then add any bits of diced fresh fruit or small bits of dried fruit like cranberries, add in a few whole walnuts or almonds, and drizzle of honey over all, and eat...a wonderful marriage of a mueslix-type cereal with something that feels more porridge-y, crunchy and sweet and thoroughly filling with very small quantities.

The more we ate with seeds and nuts, the less we had room in our diet for flours...which is good since we were needing to cut down on the breads and any sort of processed food (we're not anti-bread...LOVE it! Just don't need it for my health right now, so this other is a fantastic option) :)

We've found organic spinach at Sam's club very inexpensively, as well as frozen blueberries (not organic, I think).

While we will not be going 100% raw, we've found a high percentage of raw to be VERY easy on our bodies and to produce balancing and healing. We usually have one cooked meal of a homemade food dish, a lot of times bone broths, veggie soups, stir frys, etc. The great thing about raw is that it's very easy to prepare and clean up :)

There are tons of wonderful raw sites out there. Don't get caught in the purist idealogy, since some folks think there is only one way that's the best. Testing things personally and tailoring it to specific health needs is an intuitive and forgiving way to eat, allowing for a lot of flexibility and adaptation.

Thanks for the encouragement...we love our raw foods :)

Some really good ideas. I don't know if I will ever be 100% raw, but I know I feel great at 75%. I think it is a great balance. I've been adding greens to my morning smoothies too. For my base, I use fresh orange juice and bananas and then add a couple of handfuls of greens. I like to add the blue berries too (this is how I get the kids to drink it, because you can't see the green). I also like to add pineapple. I usually don't add any sweetener for myself, but I put some honey for the kids. For anyone in Texas, I have found HEB to be the best source for organic baby spinach. Costco has a good price on Wild Maine blueberries.
Shalom, I have one we just tried that is so yummy. Originally from TN farming! and now we reside in kissimmee Florida, I never knew BALL zuchinni existed until now!
So you get how ever many Ball zuchinni you need. We cooked up some Goya rice, diced tomatoes (fresh), onion, and sun dried tomatoes. Once this is cooked up, you take the ball zuchinni, scoop out all the inward parts and stuff it full of the rice mixture.
BAKE in the oven on 375 for about 15 minutes...
DELICIOUS!
(we did add a little goya spices to ours, we like spicey stuff, but to your own discretion).
Kim I am wondering if You still eat the Savory Veggie Stews? I am still thinking of buying His recipes. I currently have a coupon for $25. off. I have trouble feeling satisfied with just raw.
