Shalom Amy,
I would like to encourage you on your journey.
Never be dismayed at the pace that you are traveling at. HaShem knows exactly the pace that you need.
Many of us have stayed in our youth. I, for one strayed during my teens, twenties and thirties. Baruch HaShem he lassoed me at 40.
Like you my, mother was my inspiration. She never read the Bible but literally lived it. Her example in life was exemplary. May she rest in peace.
I , being Italian was brought up as a fervent Catholic.
All changed when I returned to Italy to further my studies.
As an art student I saw the gross hypocrisy in the church. Believe it or not I became an atheist and joined the communist youth group in Italy. I was actively looking for social justice. Marx and Engels had answered my yearning or so I thought.
You can imagine my mother's dismay when I returned to Australia.
HaSHEM HAD OTHER IDEAS.
I had ,you might say a frontal collision with Abba in Shamayim( Heaven).
I had some friends who influenced me to return to church. This time a pentecostal evangelical church. I only lasted 10 months as I constantly was having arguments with the pastors relating to their prosperity doctrines and false teaching on Israel.
The good that came out of this short sojourn , was that the first time in my life I read the Bible seriously. Things started jumping off the pages with HaShem's intent. Hence my arguments.
So I left the church and Christianity and dived off the cliff of uncertainty into the waiting arms of HaShem.
For the past 12 years I have been attending the local Jewish Orthodox Synagogue. I keep Shabbat and the chagim. My quest is to live an authentic Torah lifestyle. All my friends are Jewish with the majority from the former settlements of Israel. My life has changed radically... Baruch HaShem.
We are one big happy familial community.
My studies have led me to delve into the rabbinic and sage teachings which are an extremely rich tapestry of 3319 years of Jewish history.
They have shown me the true Mashiach and unravelled the mystery of Yeshua. They are much closer than people think.Light years ahead.
HaShem is unfolding this incredible plan as outlined by his Neviim(prophets)
during these momentous days as the remnant of Yehuda and Israel are truely coming together.
May HaShem enrich you on your journey, always.

This is Vanya.

Shalom
JOE.
