The Feast of Tabernacles or booths, Succoth in Hebrew, is a seven day festival that is meant to commemorate a time when Ancient Israel dwelt in temporary huts or shelters (see for example Leviticus 23:41-43). Personally, I see this as a facet of the Golden Rule - I should treat others only as I desire to be treated, which includes loving them (perhaps even more than I love myself). To me the ultimate goal is to be conformed to the image of YHVH, and practicing selfless love is one of His character traits.
I'm not sure if this helps any...
