A Sabbath to Assemble (February 26) at Temple Sinai Synagogue

Thumbnail
February 26, 2011 all day
Several weeks ago, a few members of our internet congregation decided to join the local congregation of Roots of Faith for our weekly Sabbath Service on February 26th. As soon as this became known, others began to consider joining us for the same Sabbath service. It now looks like things may be shaping up for a fairly large assembly of people. People are driving in and flying in! It should be no surprise that the Torah reading for Saturday, February 26th is Va-Yakhel. The Hebrew means "and he…See More

On Zionism and Clearly Defining Terms

As there has been much said about Zionism on the site lately, perhaps those involved would take a few moments to define just what they mean by the term. This simple exercise could go a long way toward alleviating any…

Thanks Glenn for the warm welcome. I am excited about what I believe will be an opportunity to grow in knowledge of G-d and in relationship with Him. I look forward to getting to know others who are seeking to love G-d with their heart, soul, mind, and strength and walk in His Way.

Thanks Glenn , I hope I can make a contribution...

Forgot to mention that I have a strong interest in educating Christians but more importantly Muslims...It is hard for them though to get their heads around the fact that Saul of Tarsus and Muhammad were completely self deluded but frauds nonetheless...

Have a big interest also in the rebuilding of the New Temple ( See www.tepleinstitute.org )

Shalom !!

Many thanks indeed Glenn. Just to give you a brief background - I have journeyed from Islam which I now know to be a wholly false creed ( my departure occurred many years ago ) thence on to the Noachide movement , touched base with the Karaites , Ebionites Masorti ( Conservative ) Judaism and am currently researching the Talmidi Way. I have interests in all of these strands.

My position is as follows:

1. The Seven Laws need to be promoted to the World at large
2. I do not accept the Oral Law - although the Rabbinic teachings can be helpful. Like the Karaites I believe that the Judaism that began to develop after the return of the Exiles from Babylon and became an artificial and un-necessary burden for the People of Israel whic Yeshua was at odds with and that the Pharisaic movement survives as Rabbinic ' Orthodox ' Judaism. This ' brand ' of Judaism is - I believe - responsible for many of the problems world Jewry has had and still has to this day - not least an insistence on descent only via the matrilineal line and intra marriage only to name but two...
3. That the Gallilean Tradition was the most developed form of Judaism at the time of Yeshua
4. That Yeshua as Rabbi was the superlative , supreme example of the Gallilean Tradition
5. That Yeshua was a man and not the Mashiach

Well I hope this gives you some idea of ' where I'm coming from '

I have lots of Jewish related interests not least the work of Jeff Benner at ancient-hebrew.org , Dr David Nieman and Dr Gerald Schroeder .

Many thanks for emailing me it was good to hear from you Friend. I look forward to communicating with you once again.

Best wishes from England

Garyth , Portsmouth , Hampshire

3. I do not rely wholly on P'shat and accept Drash and Remz also
4. Yeshua was a man

Mark & Sharon,

Ross said he would get the message posted as soon as he can, so maybe you can scan it to see if there were references you missed... I can also supply my notes, which have all the references, if you'd like.

Shalom, Glenn

Thanks for a very good study, and a special thanks for reminding me of Job 29:14-17;

Job 29:14-17
14 I put on righteousness, and it clothed me;
My justice was like a robe and a turban.
15 I was eyes to the blind,
And I was feet to the lame.
16 I was a father to the poor,
And I searched out the case that I did not know.
17 I broke the fangs of the wicked,
And plucked the victim from his teeth.
NKJV

It had been a long time since I read that one.

Thanks!!

Glenn,

Enjoyed the Study this Shabbat! I am new and very unskilled in questioning techniques through a chat format. So let me ask my question through this medium.

The question is "Would it be appropriate to reverse the command, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, and place the standard before the Command with the results, As you love your self, love your neighbor."

Since I am very unskilled in using this format, would my question be appropriate.

Thanks

Glad you finally accepted my friend request.

I'll make some "munchies" to bring to the synagogue next week, just to celebrate. :]
