Shalom Ross!
Hope you are well. I am writing to ask if there is an Israel Tour this coming Sukkot, or if you know anyone with a ROF, similar, like minded, doing a tour there. My sister is looking to join a tour for this Sukkot. I would appreciate any information you have. Todah!
Shalom & Blessings!!

Shalom Ross,

I was hoping you could tell me which scriptures you recommend.  I wanted to order asap as my old NASB was destroyed the other night.  I have several others but was curious which one you recommend for a physical copy...  Is it the Reader's Hebrew Bible?  I have off and on been in the various Hebrew classes on SWW but more off in recent years..  I have always enjoyed learning with Anne, Yochanny, and others but life and schedules have prevented me from doing it on a regular basis.  Toda for your input...  Shalom and enjoy your upcoming trip to Eretz Israel...  Yehovah go before you and the others... Shalom, shalom,

I have been praying that YHVH would lead me in truth no matter where it took me for about 5 years.  It wasn't until I found a church that taught from the Torah that I began to get a better understanding of G-d.  I've studied through the cycle for 2 years and recently a gospel study which focused on the teachings of Yeshua.  I learned a lot about what Yeshua's message really was.  I have just completed listening to the Messiah series and Following Yeshua out of Christianity.  You have given me more food for thought.  I have also recently read Tabor's book Paul and Jesus.  I've always had a problem with Paul's teachings, and I wasn't surprised by Tabors conclusions nor was I shocked when you took us through a study of messiah and YHVH.

Is there a chance you could help me with John 14?  I can't seem to make sense of the text as Yeshua speaking as a prophet here and would like to understand what he meant by "I am the way, truth and the life" as well as what place he was preparing and what he meant to pray in his name.  From what I understand of rabbinic tradition a disciple did not pray in another rabbi's name.

Thank you for your diligence to study and share with others what you are learning.  It has been a blessing for me.

About Me & My Beliefs

I am a student and teacher of the Bible - ordained through United Israel World Union. I am the founder of Roots of Faith and the Synagogue Without Walls in Saint Francisville, Louisiana. My teachings advocate a return to the Core Biblical Faith (Abrahamic Faith) and seek to promote Biblical literacy for all of Abraham’s seed. Through public teaching and published material, I seek to provide a clarion call for the restoration of the ancient fundamentals of Hebraic faith. Aside from my studies in the Bible and Biblical literature, I am a student of Biblical Hebrew. I have a passion for Ancient Hebrew Culture and TORAH as it applies to non-Jews. I have spent many years seeking to understand and interpret earliest “Christianity” from its original and thoroughly Hebraic perspective. As a result of these studies, I find special interest in the Quest for the historical Jesus (Yeshua) and in the original faith of the authentic followers of Yeshua who attended synagogues during the Second Temple period. I no longer call myself a Christian (too much pagan baggage attached to the term), but am quick to point out that neither was “Jesus”. I claim to follow the religion of Jesus and not the religion about him.

I have been married to Bridget Denson Nichols since 1986 and have 6 children and 3 grandsons.

My goal is to study, learn, practice and teach Biblical truth.

I began my journey towards truth from the rank and file of fundamental Christianity. As I read and studied my Bible I soon discovered a vast difference between the religion of Jesus and the religion about him (Christianity). Years ago I came up with three statements that helped me along the way. Since I came from a Christian background, I used my familiarity of the New Testament texts to find my way to the truth. I began to see that “Jesus” had been misrepresented by the “Church”, and felt that I had inherited lies, vanity and things wherein there was no profit - Jeremiah 16:19. I still maintain the highest regard for the historical Jesus of Nazareth who believed in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and in the eternal validity of the Hebrew Bible and taught the people of his day to return to the true faith. Below are the three statements that helped me find my way to the God of Jesus - a WAY that is clearly defined in the Bible that Jesus read. Jesus sought to bring about the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth - which is the goal and meaning of history. His followers would do well to take his yoke and learn from him.

I put my faith in the God of Jesus – commonly referred to as “the LORD”, but known by the designation YHVH in the Hebrew Bible, and referred to by Jesus of Nazareth in the New Testament by the Aramaic term Abba / father. This God is one, and beside him there is no other, neither in heaven nor on earth. He is the Ancient of Days, El Shaddai, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. (Matthew 19:16ff; John 17:3; 20:17; I Corinthians 15:24; II Corinthians 11:31; Ephesians 1:3, 17; Colossians 1:3; I Peter 1:3; Acts 2:22: 10:38). I do NOT believe that the historical Jesus is or was the God of Abraham, Isaac or Jacob. Furthermore, I do not believe that he ever claimed such.

I put my faith in the Bible that Jesus read – commonly referred to as the “Old Testament”, but strictly and properly referred to as the Hebrew Bible or TaNaKh, an acronym formed by the first letters of three Hebrew words used to designate the three main parts of the Hebrew Bible (Torah – Law, Neviim – the Prophets and Ketuvim – the Writings). (Matthew 5:17ff; Luke 16:16ff, 29; 24:25, 32, 44ff; John 1:45; 5:39, 46; Acts 13:15, 26ff; 15:21, 17:2, 24:14, 26:22; Romans 1:2; 7:12, 14, 22; 10:4; 15:4; 16:26; I Corinthians 15:3; Galatians 3:24; II Timothy 3:15)

I put my faith in the authentic teachings and mission of Jesus – to bring about the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth, to seek and save the lost sheep of the house of Israel (hitherto unaware of their true identity), and to do and teach the Torah of YHWH. (Matthew 5; 10:6; 15:24)

Advancing the Kingdom

As a result of the long holiday weekend I have spent a good deal of time thinking of organizational matters.

The truth is, I feel certain that more people will be attracted to our efforts and one must be prepared for "growth". We are seeing more people joining in every Sabbath.  I am also aware that some of you are not at all involved with what we are doing. I would like to think that all of you are joining us every Sabbath or at least downloading the classes and listening later, but I… Continue

Relocation Expenses

As many of you know, Roots of Faith is currently moving into a rented space due to renovations on Temple Sinai Synagogue. The move is scheduled for next week, beginning on Tuesday.

Members of the local congregation have worked extremely hard to find a place that is suitable, while not putting us into a position of always needing to ask for financial assistance. We are committed to providing solid biblical teaching at no charge. Our work is solely supported by contributions from those… Continue

Fogel Family Has Received the Funds!

Fogel Family Fund

If you have been moved by the story of the Fogel Family massacre that took place in Itamar, I encourage you to go to the page I just set up. I am hoping that many of you will help me help this family. If you had intended to donate to Roots of Faith, please consider donating to this special project instead. We have enough money in the account to pay our bills this month already and this is such a worthy cause. If you do…
