Throughout the ages, the Jewish people have constantly lived with the threat of annihilation and persecution.
This experience is commemorated in a plea featured in the Pesach Seder Service, called the “V'hi she'amda”. It is translated from the Hebrew, as follows:
"This threat of annihilation faced our ancestors and us.
For it was not one enemy alone who rose up against us to destroy us.
In every generation there are those who rise up against us and seek to annihilate us.
But the Holy One, blessed be he, rescues us ('matzileynu') from their hands."
Yonatan Razael, one of Jewish music's favorite sons wrote a beautiful melody for this song, which he sings here with the king of Jewish singers, Yaacov Shweikey. Absolutely beautiful!
